Join us and have your say - both for yourself and other young people!

Youth Councils are local groups of young people, usually of secondary school age, who meet to promote the voice of young people to the adult council. Stevenage Youth Council (SYC) advocates (speaks up for) on behalf of young people in the area, including holding two permanent seats on Stevenage Borough Council. SYC are also actively involved in projects for young people, such as running live music events at Bowes Lyon Centre, liaising with other youth councils and school councils, and taking part in an annual training residential. Members of the Youth Council are recruited via their annual conference which is held every November. Every school in Stevenage is invited to attend this conference.

There are many things you can do to have your say. A Youth Council is a formal way of doing this and since local councils are active in supporting them, they have a lot of status and a loud voice.
